Dance For Fun was originally founded over 30 years ago by Cindy Bizek, teaching dance and cheerleading in Community programs in Detroit, Redford, Livonia, Southfield, and Farmington Hills while attending high school at Bishop Borgess. A Michgan All-State cheerleader, Cindy also coached many cheerleading squads.  Cindy danced professionally in the Detroit Disco Dance Company, but took a more serious approach to her studies at the business school at The University of Michigan,  Ann Arbor. Cindy was a cheerleader for the Wolverines.

Shortly thereafter,  Cynthia (Bizek) Bass worked at Chemical Bank in New York City. Enjoying Broadway shows and taking master dance classes was a great escape for the wall street stockbroker. Cynthia also studied dance in Boston, MA learning the unique style of Isadora Duncan which was the basis for her thesis at The University of  Connecticut. She continued teaching dance and pilates in CT. Returning to Michigan in 1997 Cynthia started working with Lake Orion Community Education introducing "Diaper Dancing" with then toddler daughter, Abigail. Miss Cindy then went on to introduce her Dance For Fun concept in affiliation with Lake Orion, Clarkston, Oxford, Waterford, Wallad Lake and Berkley community programs.  As the sessions passed  Miss Cindy's classes became very popular. Although happy at the thought of introducing dance through the community programs, Miss Cindy realized her students were frustrated when they tried to continue their dance training at other studios.

Looking for a dance studio that shared her love of dance and similar philosophies to send her own young dancing children, Cynthia Bass opened the Dance For Fun studio in 2002.  As the curriculum grew, (we now offer all types of dance, gymnastics, cheer, musical theatre, and fitness classes) and as our students became better dancers, and it was apparent a change needed to happen.  STARZ Performing Arts  opened in 2009, with a commitment to quality dance education while maintaining  family friendly values.
